Conscious Celebrating
A Couple's Garden
Our challenge to all the newly-engaged is to start a small garden, either in indoor pots, an outdoor patio, or in the earth itself, at the onset of your engagement. If you don't already garden, prepare yourself for the beauty, physically and soulfully, of what this time-honored practice of growing and nurturing living things can foster.
Thoughts
- Plant seeds or seedlings of produce or herbs you may want to share with your loved ones and serve at your wedding reception.
- Plant flowers or greenery that you may want to carry in your bouquet walking down the aisle, or integrate heart-and-hand grown elements into table decor.
Whatever you decide to grow, what we wish for you is an increased consciousness of our earth, a nurturing of your relationship as a new couple as you will literally be sowing the seeds of your marriage, and creating the opportunity to connect in a fundamental way, growing something together.
Bring the garden into the wedding celebration
- Set up a transportable potted garden at you wedding where your guests have the opportunity to plant seeds along with their good wishes for you both. This will be a wonderful experiential activity at your wedding. Moreover, you will get to take home a 'piece' of your guests' hopes, desires and their love for you, as you start your new happy home, grounded with good intentions.
- Share the gardening experience with your guests giving them a take-home Gardening Kit as a parting gift. Include a pot, biodynamic soil, seed packet, and a card explaining planting instructions with a letter of love and gratitude.
- Incorporate into your celebration something that is real, meaningful, intentional and spiritual, thereby bringing a sense of modern reverence into your wedding.
